Saara K. Wacklin

Born in Finland in 1980, Saara developed a great passion for the arts at a young age. She has been an active theatergoer since she was a baby. Writing and arts were always Saara’s favorite subjects in school. After discovering dance in first grade, she made her first debut on stage with professional dancers at the age of 11.

Out of school, Saara tried her wings in a new country, when she moved to Stockholm, Sweden. In Sweden Saara continued to train herself as a dancer, but slowly started to become more interested in arts management and producing. After a thorough soul-searching she moved back to her native Finland and earned a BA in Cultural Production and Management.

After spending a year organizing arts events and festivals, it was time to embark on a new adventure. Saara and her husband-to-be packed their bags and moved to London to pursue yet another dream. That move started a life-changing phase in Saara’s life. The overwhelming city of London offered the devoted arts lover endless experiences in the world of arts and she fully enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of the city.

Saara graduated with an MA in Arts Criticism and Management from City University London in 2007. After that she worked as an Arts Coordinator in the London Borough of Richmond, producing arts events and festivals ranging from literature festivals to community arts projects and dance performances.

Before relocating to California, Saara spent three years in Finland. During that time she started a family and worked as a Producer of Performing Arts at Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.

Saara moved to Santa Monica with her husband and at the time 1-year-old son in 2011. In California she has been working as a freelance writer, language teacher, producer and editor. She utterly enjoys exploring the arts scene in Los Angeles, while making sure to find enough time for her newest passion, Pilates.
